A beautiful Sunday on the beach with Michelle out in Caloundra, the start of the Sunshine Coast. We had a picnic, she’s headed up to stay with Jackie for a few more days – a week actually, and will be back in Brisbane by about a week tomorrow. She’s got a place that she’ll be moving into on the 25th that’s one suburb away from mine. The thing about Brisbane is that the right place opens up for you if you can wait long enough.
Taking public transit back into the city is $10 and will take about one and a half hours on the train. It takes about that long to drive. The $10 is 15 zones, and I can actually go another 15 zones in the other direction on the same ticket – pretty sweet transit system.
Going through the Glasshouse Mountains, absolutely beautiful.
Beach today was very windy, and there was a very strong current that was too strong to swim against. The wind was going the opposite way of the water. Quite fun to swim with the current – the shore people went by very quickly. Very steep beach (under water) and almost no waves – very protected. The very strong wind blew sand like snow on the road, drifting it and covering my clothes and towel in the time I was in the water.
Tomorrow an interview for an application support position in a company called Console that makes software for real estate companies. Sounds cool. I’m going in certain I can get the job, which is calming.
Although the Greenpeace job is good for the spirit, I’m not doing particularly well and am currently costing them more than I’m bringing in. Not the most motivating thoughts. The people are heaps of fun, but I don’t know that I can pick it up in the way that is needed to properly contribute. And contributing is something that I want to do, to any job or group that I’m in. So this other job gives me a chance to do something that I can do well, and also resets the timer – 3 months for working.
In the meantime, I have to figure out how much tax I’m going to be paying. I think it’s around 50%. Or at least, I’m calculating based on that, so I won’t be disappointed.
