Got the job, would have been very surprised if I hadn’t. They were disappointed that I would only be able to work for 3 months with my visa. Seemed keen on getting me into the organization. Gives me a chance to hone some very direct sales skills. I do want to move to a bit more of a training, lower intensity job at some point.
I got to the neighbourhood of the office that the interview was in a bit early, so wandered off to find a place to sit for half an hour. A woman alone at a sidewalk cafe asked me if I was Ben as I approached. I smiled and said “No, I’m Brendan,” as I walked past. I thought that maybe some sort of blind date, he hasn’t shown up. So I went off a bit further, and when I got back to the office, it turned out that she was the Greenpeace interviewer, and that Ben was the WSPA interviewer.
Because it was a group interview for the most part, I got to see how everyone else performed. I’ll be interested to see who got picked, and meet the people who were picked from the later session. Some really nice people – WSPA is World Society for the Protection of Animals, and Greenpeace is, well, Greenpeace.
