Do Ice cubes melt more quickly when exposed to warm air than cold water? So many factors to take into account other than temperature! Size and distribution of cubes, accumulation of ice runoff, air flow. Talking with Lee today after work, he needed to vent about changes in stuff and things like that.
A beautiful Sunday… Actually, it’s Tuesday. Interview yesterday went really well until availability and visa talk came around. Visa specifically. They want me, but they want me to be available full time for a year or more. That’s OK, ’cause I got another callback this morning from an agency. Means someone will be doing some [...]
A beautiful Sunday on the beach with Michelle out in Caloundra, the start of the Sunshine Coast. We had a picnic, she’s headed up to stay with Jackie for a few more days – a week actually, and will be back in Brisbane by about a week tomorrow. She’s got a place that she’ll be [...]
Sometimes this pen writes well on the waxy part of the page, sometimes it doesn’t write as well. Good day yesterday, 3 signups and a call back from a software company, and Michelle came over. She’s moving in to a place on Saturday, but Jackies place is a bit too party all the time.
On my way to work out in the Capalaba shopping centre, a fair way out of town. It may be the last or second last day working for Greenpeace, and unfortunately not because I’ve found something better. After a few days of pestering people on the streets, I still haven’t found my stride and got [...]
Were the 90′s less politically significant on the global arena, was there a quiet period from the mid to the late 90′s, or was it just that Clinton was better at hiding the things the US was doing, Y2K was the big global crisis, and I had my head and political awareness down?
Just finished watching a movie called “Brassed Off” that was the source of samples for some Chumbawumba tracks: “I used to think that music mattered, but it doesn’t bollocks, not compared to our people matter!” From Tubthumping. The line actually comes right towards the end of the movie, but I recognized the voice almost as [...]
First day of real work yesterday, actually on the street talking with people. No sign-ups, but good stopping rates. It’s fun to be out there, getting paid to meet people. Met some other of the people who are frontliners as well, cool people, energetic and enthusiastic.
Read a book about change called “Who moved my cheese.” It talks about 4 characters in a maze who look for cheese. Sniff and Scurry are mice, and Hem and Haw are little people. They find a big stash of cheese and then when it’s all gone, Sniff and Scurry head off to look for [...]
Got the job, would have been very surprised if I hadn’t. They were disappointed that I would only be able to work for 3 months with my visa. Seemed keen on getting me into the organization. Gives me a chance to hone some very direct sales skills. I do want to move to a bit [...]
