The dog here really likes me, but I can’t play with him too much because Eli, the woman of the house, is very small and needs him to remain a non-wrestling dog. He’s the first big dog that I’ve had a chance to actually sortof play with and he’s such a suck.

I also really get along well with the hosts – especially Geoff, who seems to be enjoying answering my questions about his garden, his 70′s Harmon/Cardon amp and speakers, the GST and Australian economy, and all sorts of other, similarly odd, topics. Eli has been spending more time with the girls – they cooked up a great Thai meal tonight, curried veggies and coconut milk rice (1/2 water and 1/2 coconut milk for the rice). I found it super-yummy, and everyone else was impressed, although Geoff seemed a little less. He’s been good about trying foods he hasn’t usually eaten before, or has disliked before.
While digging today, chatting with Geoff, him telling me about visiting a nearby real estate agent. “You’re near the party house – how do you manage?” says the agent. “Party house?” replies Geoff. The agent then describes this place. “Oh, that’s my house.” says Geoff. The next event is in 2 weeks, and we’re helping with some of the large scale earth moving and planting that should be done before.
33 degrees in the shade today, lots of sweat, taking advantage of the plunge pool (8 feet deep, just over 6′ square) and drinking lots of water. And it does feel like we’re a bit under worked, but it is beautiful, wonderful being here. So many little eccentricities about the property.
And the main paranoia is ticks, but there doesn’t seem to be lyme disease, so things should be OK. Oh, the house is also home to a few frogs, at least 2 snakes, and one big lizard (lots of smaller salamanders), and several huntsman spiders, that have been scaring Daisy.
More time to write as Eli and Geoff retire early – 9 PM is late for them. The girls and I settle down to read, write and draw. Aimee (any common name I’ve had to write recently is the long spelling) has done a stick-figure illustrated set of instructions for the Sun Salutation yoga sequence for Geoff and is continuing some other things now. Good times!
