So I’ve picked up the nickname “Shaggy”. Serena is “Pink”, and Stephanie is “Tish”, and all of this is orchestrated by one of the staff who is currently in charge of our transportation, Ben. Gagaju definitely has character and characters.

Staying another night out at Gagaju tonight. We ended up out here looking for wilderness camping last night and stayed at a discounted price, thanks to the negotiations by Shane (Turtle). A few days under my belt in Brisbane. Swimming in a man-made lagoon as the river going through the city doesn’t have the label of “Safe”, it’s meant to be filled with some danger animals.

Lots of activity today, in the sense that I got things that needed to get done, done. Not much movement physically, but I’ve managed to get myself moving towards Brisbane in the next day. That’s tomorrow.

Yesterday evening met a British fellow who was out taking photos of the sunset while I was. It wasn’t the best sunset, but we had a good time chatting. Then off to get some grub at The Rails, a local pub who had an Irish accordian player and always seems to have good food.

Got adopted by a couple of girls from Quebec (Riviere du Loup or Trois Rivieres, or something like that, 20 minutes from Kamouraska) who have a car and who had snuck into the hostel last night to use the kitchen. We took a trip to nearby Nimbin, through wild back-country roads, over hills [...]

Surf lessons. First wave, I’m the first one of the class to try, and I surf it to shore. A couple more, then I’m sent off to join the group that has surfed before.
