Kept calling Shane “Shawn”, or “Rainbow”. We stayed with him last night, or more, he stayed with us. Ended up camping by the Mary or May river, at a spot recommended by a local. Shane dropped us off at this Wwoof place this morning, and we’ve spent the day getting to know Eli (the woman) and Geoff (the man) who both look to be much younger than they claim to be. 5 acres of land, a horse, duck, dog, pool, they are world travellers themselves with no kids between them, but Geoff has 2, now grown up, from his previous partner.
The house is a sprawling affair that grew gradually around a “caravan” or mobile home, and is now a 2 story (in places) almost ranch style house with almost self-sufficient guest house for the 3 of us – actually, it is heated, lit, has hot and cold running water and a fridge, cutting table, since, etc. There are no toilets in the main house, just a “pit toilet” (outhouse) around back.
I’m hoping to be put to work – there’s a need in me to do a fair exchange, and we’ve been spoilt by these two in the short time that we’ve been here. The girls have offered Yoga teaching, Geoff was talking about wanting to find a class.
We’re also the first Wwoofers that they’ve had.
Tonight beautiful clear skies, welcome after the clouds for the past night or two. Time is passing in a strange way, I hadn’t thought that we were Friday already, but we are. Lightning last night was very bright, but I fell asleep before the rain started. And I slept through all the rain.
