Closing Time

The end of the month and with it the end of a good time here. I seem to have made good impressions with most people - Sharon asking whether I’d be coming back, Richard inquiring about my near future plans, and the rest of folks having this positive glow towards me, and each other - that’s important too. It’s been generally positive, a few pre-existing personality conflicts, overall good.

Interrupted

Nothing.

Passing Time

I am getting tired. The heat and the work are conspiring to take it out of me. THe nights are cool, and I stay up late to take advantage of this but usually end up just getting more done, keeping guests happy and things clean. I’m needing to find that relax time.

Myth Building

A few late nights and not so late mornings, a few phone calls and a few more days have gone by. A recent morning wake-up was Maita, another volunteer here, outside my tent.

Conformity

The beach is clothing optional, but to this point it’s been pretty much

Moving Experiences

Moved campsite today down to a large open area with Keith and Jean and Zoe
and Ruth. The three other than Keith are new WWOOFers but, other than Jean,
seem to be short term. I’m waiting for the moon to rise again, as it’s a
beautifully clear night. It looks like the mountains on the other side of
the valley are in the moonlight already.

Companionship Rise

We watched the moon rise and held each other. “I’ll fall asleep on my feet, right here.” she mumbled into my chest. “I think that sometimes I’m not annoying.” I replied. She looked up at me with a smile brighter than the moon and laughed. “I’ll walk you back to your bunkhouse so you don’t fall asleep along the way.” I continued. “You’re sometimes very funny, when you don’t try to be.” she finally got the words out.

Floored!

Injury! But not really serious. Pushed to hard in Yoga yesterday, left hip didn’t feel so good for the whole day afterwards. A bit better today, should be fine by tomorrow or the day after. I feel like an old man - it’s hard to stand up from sitting, and to get up from lying down.

Endless Energy?

“Does anyone want a day off today or tomorrow?” Richard asked at the start of the morning meeting. I thought to myself: These are my days off - I don’t plan, organize, cook for myself or climb. This is one rest day after another, with a few interesting projects to do, great company and top quality food.
